Xuewen Fu mainly focuses on ultrafast electron microscopy and the microscopic dynamics of low-dimensional functional materials for a long time. He has led the development of several pioneering scientific instrument systems, including the first all-RF ultrafast transmission electron microscope, the ultrafast scanning electron microscope-ultrafast cathodoluminescence combined detection system, and the ultrafast transmission electron microscope-transient optical spectroscopy combined detection system, etc. He has pioneered the development of in-situ liquid-phase ultrafast transmission electron microscopy and sub-100-femtosecond two-color near-field ultrafast electron microscopy. These cutting-edge technologies have been successfully applied to unravel the microscopic dynamics of structure, charge, and spin in low-dimensional functional materials. As of May 2026, he has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, including Science/Natureand their sister journals, and Phys. Rev. Lett., etc. Among them, as the first author or corresponding author, more than 60 papers have been published in journals such as Science, Nat. Nanotechnol., Nat. Phys., Phys. Rev. Lett., Nat. Commun. (3 papers), Sci. Adv. (4 papers), Light Sci. App., Adv. Mater. (2 papers), Rev. Sci. Instrum., Adv. Rev. Sci. Instrum., and ACS Nano (7 papers) etc., and 9 national invention patents have been authorized. He has presided over the Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key Research Projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology for Young Scientists, the Outstanding Young Scientist Fund Project of Tianjin, and the Key Projects of Tianjin, etc.
